Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! See you in 2020
over 4 years ago – Sun, Dec 22, 2019 at 01:15:18 PM

I just wanted to wish you all the best for this season and let you know our availability over the holiday period.

You'll be glad to hear that this last week we've already started the process of getting everything ready for next year: Briefing in art changes, getting the pledge manager ready and gearing up on the manufacturing front.

We've decided to take a break over the holiday period itself, so please let me know if you have any urgent questions. From the 23rd of December to 6th of January, we're going to celebrate, relax with our friends and family before the hard work of bringing you the best game we can *really* gets going. As soon as we get back, we'll answer any comments or questions you may have left for us.

Thanks again for all your support and all the very best for 2020!

James

*You* did it
over 4 years ago – Thu, Dec 12, 2019 at 05:55:02 PM

Phew - after 21 days of non-stop campaigning, the Magnate Kickstarter is over and we raised a frankly bonkers $63,080.

Truly, deeply - thank you

As a result of you taking a bet on Magnate, myself and the rest of the Naylor Games team, this game is going to get made. I know I keep saying this - but I really am truly grateful. You've taken your hard earned money and put it to work on something that doesn't exist in its final form yet to make it happen. It would be easy to be a bit blasé about that fact in a world where game Kickstarter games are now very commonplace; part of the 'furniture' with their own culture and jargon. But when you think about it, it really is an amazing thing to do.

Now its up to us to live-up to the faith you have put in us. Soon it'll be time for us to deliver - even overdeliver - on our promises.

I entered this endeavour with eyes wide open, spent years doing groundwork and have been reinforced by a team with considerable knowledge and experience in the world of products, Kickstarter and tabletop games. So I am very confident in my pledge to you: to make this a game that will not only delight you when it arrives next year, but will continue to delight you, your family and friends long into the future.

All the very best from me, Jaya and the whole Naylor Games team,

James Naylor

Less than 4 hours left! More painted buildings and rules editing by Gaming Rules!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Dec 12, 2019 at 02:29:35 AM

We're almost at the finish line: Will we make it to that last goal? It look tight but you smashed right through the previous one when that looked tight - and the gap today is about the same as yesterday's raise - so who knows?! If you want to persuade others to jump on board though - you don't have long left - less than 4 hours!

Yet more painted buildings!

Yesterday, Byron over at ArtisOpus hosted a live stream where he painted the house and superior office block from Magnate. Using a drybrush technique he created these beauties:

Really cool right? The video where you can see how he does it will be available as an Instagram story for another 18 hours or so, so check it out while you can.

Gaming Rules on board to edit Magnate rulebook

I am very excited to announce that Paul Grogan of Gaming Rules! will be taking on the rules editing of the Magnate Rulebook! Paul has been a huge help so far, giving us all sorts of advice about rules, doing a live learn of Magnate. He is also one of very best editors in the entire industry so its great to know the Magnate rulebook will be in safe hands.

CITY HALL! & one last goal
over 4 years ago – Thu, Dec 12, 2019 at 02:14:59 AM

THE CITY HALL IS UNLOCKED

After a phenomenal day today, you unlocked the City Hall! $60,000 well and truly smashed. Every Tycoon pledge (not something we currently plan to bring to retail if we get a retail release!) will now get one to act as seat of government and complete the city. Every add-on building set will *also* include an extra city hall too.

One humongous last stretch goal

Backers - you are clearing us out! :D We only have the monstrous stuff left now - but you asked for one last surprise - So this is it.

If you get us to $67k, we're going to add alternative art to the back of every tile for a new one you vote for:  Tropical, Winter or Urban styles! It's totally bonkers but so is getting this far!

Less than 24 hours to go: Live building painting, LEATHER WALLETS and much more!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Dec 12, 2019 at 12:27:58 AM

There's now less than 24 hours to go before the campaign is over! And still lots of new stuff going on!

Live painting session 7-7.30pm UTC/GMT

Byron over at premium brush company Artis Opus is going to painting some of Magnate's buildings at starting around 7-7.30pm GMT/UTC. They've never done anything quite like this before so this promises to be really interesting live show - and especially useful if you're interested in painting your own buildings!

New add-on: LEATHER MONEY WALLETS!

Magnate's paper money is 1st class. It's not your grandfather's paper money: its notes are thick, semi-glossy and resilient to damage. We had the same set on tour for more than a year with Magnate and you can barely tell most of it was ever used!

Such great money deserves a perfect place to keep it: and no finer place would be than company-branded imitation leather wallets. A $10 ( That's $2 each!) this is a very low price indeed. But I've brought it so low because I think this is just such a great thing and I want to make sure we at Naylor Games are giving back as much as we've got support from you. The game's current wallets will be robust... but they'll never be as nice as this. We couldn't afford to just include these (and, once again, I am all about the realistic approach to funding), but I am prepared for us to take a bit of a hit here if we need to. I hope you like them!

Another stretch goal down: Crash marker!

We're getting a more thematic, plastic crash marker now - in all copies of the game! Well done... less than $3,000 to go the city hall!

More reviews coming your way

The Magnate prototypes have been working their way around boardgame world: which means we've *still* got new reviews and previews being published! I have several more for the campaign page I am going to add today. So keep a look-out.
